Senior Mechanical Engineer/Machinery Design
This position is Contingent Upon Contract Award
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Machinery Design focused Mechanical Engineer to support the Underway Replenishment Division at Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division.
Job Description:
  • Develop and refine concepts for new systems and processes to advance naval logistics capability and improve system readiness.
  • Develop, revise, and provide 3-D models and engineering drawings for naval replenishment systems.
  • Perform finite element analysis of UNREP components and systems to validate structural integrity of designs and adherence to technical requirements.
  • Develop and aid in the development of documentation in support of analyses of alternatives of new UNREP systems and equipment concepts.
  • Support Test and Evaluation Services.
  • Perform DDAM (Dynamic Design Analysis Method) analysis of UNREP components and systems to simulate shock loading and aid in the hardening of components to meet shock qualification.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering and at least 5 years of experience OR a High school diploma and at least 15 years of experience performing mechanical engineering duties.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in performing detailed mechanical design, with a preference toward shipboard deck machinery, or similar.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Prefer at least 10 years of experience performing detailed mechanical design, with a preference toward shipboard deck machinery, or similar.
  • Experience supporting a U.S Navy Design Agent.
  • Experience supporting U.S Navy Shipboard Deck Machinery.
  • Model Based System Engineering experience.
  • Master's in an Engineering Discipline from an accredited university or college.
Security Requirements:
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret security clearance or clearance in interim.
  • Must have the ability to gain access to private and public shipyards and Naval installations.
Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional travel- Up to 25%
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (no later than position start date) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Pay Range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
