Requisition ID req22419 Working Title Master Utilities Maint Mech Position Grade 11 Position Summary UNM's Utility Services has a great opportunity for Master Utilities Maint/Mech to join our team. The qualified candidate will perform and inspect preventive maintenance and repairs to utility production units and distribution systems, ensuring that all work is completed within industrial standards and codes. Leads assigned staff in preventive maintenance and repair of utility plant equipment and machinery in the absence of the maintenance supervisor
Utilities Division maintains the University's district energy system providing electricity, steam, chilled water and domestic water through its own distribution systems.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR/AED Certificates within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Must maintain certification status.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of trades experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure Current New Mexico Journeyman's Plumbing / Gas (JPG) licensure and one of the following New Mexico Mechanical Contractor's Licensure MM98, MM1, MM2 or MM4. OR Current New Mexico Refrigeration Licenses (JR), EPA Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification, one other current trade related New Mexico Journeyman Licensure and one of the following New Mexico Mechanical Contractor's License MM98, MM3 or MM4.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with industrial chillers and their auxiliary equipment.
  • Experience with industrial boilers and their auxiliary equipment.
