Qualifications:

High School Diploma; at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Description:

  • Reach out into the community, and in a team effort, assist to identify and recruit 1000 qualifying participants for the EOC program by the end of the grant year.
  • Motivate primarily low-income and/or potential first-generation college adults to enroll in postsecondary.
  • Assists participants with completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online as well as locate and apply to additional scholarships.
  • Assists participants with the admissions and application process to the college of their choice.
  • Enroll high school dropouts in GED programs.
  • Follow-up with EOC participants to determine unmet needs and monitor educational status/progress.
  • Provide career, financial literacy and academic advisement.
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of intake paperwork for all program applicants.
  • Attend weekly, bi-weekly, monthly meetings related to grant activity.
  • Perform other duties, as necessary to fulfill the EOC grant's objectives.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license.
  • Must pass UNM background check.
  • Ability to travel throughout Bernalillo, Socorro, Torrance, and Valencia counties to recruit participants.
  • Must be flexible and able to work before 8 am and after 5 pm, as necessary to cover outreach/recruitment events.
  • Must have the capability and willingness to assists non-traditional students, including but not limited to at risk youth and adults, homeless and former inmates at their respective male/female facilities.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and across racial and cultural boundaries.
  • Ability to present at large groups.
  • Must be fluent in English/Spanish.
  • At least one year experience in TRiO or educational-type program counseling low-income and first generation students in mid or high school settings; or have been a participant in a TRiO (or similar) program.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and related equipment and software (e.g., Word, Power Point, Excel, Adobe, etc.).
