Minimum Qualifications Summary
Certification & Education
  • Doctorate degree in psychology, sociology, or related social science discipline reflecting advanced training in quantitative research methods
Experience Required
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing, administering, & analyzing, organizational surveys and preparing reports or briefings of findings.
  • Expert knowledge of survey research methodology and development methodology
  • Expert knowledge of program evaluation methods and techniques
  • Expert knowledge of scientific literature on effective strategies to promote organizational change.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations governing human subjects research activities
Job Objective
The purpose of this requirement is to support CDC in its effort to gather and analyze data from longitudinal pregnant people and infant surveillance and Birth Defects surveillance/registry systems, as well as provide services to support CDC activities related to neonatal abstinence syndrome to make use of existing state bio surveillance and other surveillance tools to improve voluntary, de-identified prenatal and newborn health data. Data may include opioid-related information before and during pregnancy to reduce risks associated with neonatal abstinence syndrome and optimize care.
Responsibilities
  • Manages, administers, and analyzes organizational surveys and prepares or briefings of findings. Applies survey research methodology and development methodology
  • Provide SME support and knowledge (Developmental Pediatrician, Neuropsychologist) of developmental milestones from ages 0 to 5 years
  • Provide SME information of potential impacts of Zika infection during pregnancy or Congenital Zika Syndrome on the neurodevelopment of children, or children with similar delays
  • Review all available clinical data for about 20-50 cases per week and make determination about whether potential cases meet standard case classification. Consult on any cases with more complex findings with other CDC and/or industry clinical SMEs
  • Conduct clinical reviews following an established protocol and document and record decisions
  • Review clinical cases of infants and children to determine association with Zika virus infection during pregnancy, infancy or early childhood and adverse health and developmental outcomes
  • Provide technical assistance (project monitoring and data collection compliance) in implementing surveillance and research and analyses in areas where CDC is working, such as Colombia and Honduras, and other areas with affected pregnancies or children
  • Must be prepared to attend a conference (to be determined) at least twice a year. Annual conferences dates and locations may vary. Annual conferences dates and locations may vary.
