The Children's Campus is a high-quality early childhood education facility serving the university community. We currently have 15 classrooms and serve over 200 families. The events coordinator will be responsible for planning conferences and special events that align with the goals and mission of our program. The planning process will include consulting with conference or event directors or other campus personnel to establish goals, services required, facility needs and appropriate usage, and fee schedules as well as coordinating and arranging spaces, exhibits, guest accommodations, tours, banquets, receptions, and other applicable conference activities that meet the needs of the staff and attendees which include children, families, and staff of UNMCC.

Duties include:

  • Monitoring and preparing reports on revenues and expenditures to ensure cost effectiveness
  • Providing on-site coordination and consultation, problem-solving, decision-making, and interaction with vendors and members of our campus, the UNM campus, and the broader community.
  • Preparing and providing post-activity evaluation data and reports as necessary to ensure compliance with grant, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Event management and administrative duties will also include various administrative functions based on specific event requirements, data management and correspondence, event marketing by developing, designing and distributing advertising, press releases, mailings, posters, flyers, newsletters, brochures, web pages, and other materials.

Conditions of Employment
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community, specifically with children and families.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of space allocation practices and principles.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to lead and train assigned staff.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
