Requisition ID req27966 Working Title Program Manager Position Grade 13 Position Summary

This position will oversee and administer all facets of the day-to-day operations of the programs and activities related to the Center for Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety (CPBS). CPBS is a 5-year University Transportation Center funded by the US Department of Transportation that began in June 2023 and is anticipated to run through May 2028. The consortium is led by the University of New Mexico with partners universities of San Diego State University, University of California Berkeley, University of Tennessee Knoxville, and University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. CPBS's goal is to prevent pedestrian and bicyclist injuries and fatalities and enable more sustainable and healthy transportation systems.

This position will need to coordinate the administration of CPBS including compiling and checking budgets for all consortium members; coordinating the annual CPBS Strategic Plan update; collecting performance indicators from each university for Semi-Annual Progress Reports and Annual Performance Indicators and writing those reports; representing CPBS at Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTC) events; help with purchasing and hiring students; scheduling meetings; booking travel; and overseeing financial reports.

In addition to the administration detailed above, CPBS is charged with performing research, workforce development, education, and technology transfer related to CPBS's goals and objectives.

In terms of research, this position will coordinate the annual Call for Problem Statements; compile and check project charters, data management plans, and final reports and other deliverables for all funded projects; update Research in Progress database and other databases.

In terms of workforce development, this position will organize and perform pedestrian and bicyclist safety training sessions; organize CPBS presence at conferences; and coordinate updates to a professional certification program.

In terms of education, this position will coordinate K-12 education sessions and help set up a dual degree program at UNM.

In terms of technology transfer, this position will compile and send out monthly newsletters; update social media mainly through CPBS's LinkedIn account; organize webinars; and update the CPBS website.

The above tasks are known responsibilities of the position. The position will be required to take on additional tasks as CPBS becomes responsible for them.

CPBS is anticipated to be funded through May 2028 and it is anticipated that this position will last through that time, barring any unforeseen issues with USDOT funding. This position will have three month probationary periods for the first year where performance will be reviewed. The position will be in-person at least three days per week.

Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience 2 of which are management level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Skill in examining and evaluating operations and developing and/or re-engineering operating strategies, systems, and procedures.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Knowledge of contract and grant preparation and management to stay in compliance with UNM and USDOT guidelines and requirements.
