OVERVIEW:

To provide assistance in the cleaning and maintenance of all camp facilities and grounds. To assist each program by setting up and taking down program areas as directed. To provide support to the staff and campers by providing services such as trash clean up, bathroom cleaning and paper product stocking, and to provide support in camp wide events, and to participate in daily devotionals.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  1. Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
  2. Assist with evening cabin supervision and devotions as needed.
  3. Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
  4. Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
  5. Any other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Crew Chief or Assistant Camp Administrator.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Safety and Supervision

  1. Enforce camp policies and procedures
  2. Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times.
  3. Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.

Weekly Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Maintenance Crew Chief in any duties as requested in order to maintain a consistently high level of efficiency in the operation of the camp program
  2. Clean buildings and complete set ups as required in support of scheduled programming.
  3. Clean and prepare all areas for use by campers and guests:
    1. Dust windows, doorways, and know down all cobwebs.
    2. Sweep floors & porches.
    3. Scrub bathroom sinks, showers, toilets, and clean mirrors.
    4. Mop and disinfect bathroom shower & floor.
    5. Clean disinfect and stock all bathrooms daily.
    6. Re-stock all paper products.
    7. Empty all trash & replace can liner, and take to main dumpster
    8. Check & replace burnt light bulbs.
    9. Prior to the start of each camp session, close and lock all buildings and rooms not planned for program use.
    10. Periodically check to make sure that buildings and rooms not in use remain locked.
    11. Interior & exterior painting as needed
  4. Moving equipment, appliances, furniture and home furnishing as needed
  5. Assist with grounds and landscaping projects as needed
  6. Keep the Maintenance Building neat & orderly at all times and keep all tools in their proper location
  7. Assist with general maintenance duties as needed
  8. Maintain inventory of supplies needed in this service
  9. Set up evening program (i.e. campfire) & prepare sleep out locations as needed
  10. Assist on opening day with luggage and camper needs
  11. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry rooms
  12. Attend all scheduled staff meetings and evening programs
  13. Conduct trail maintenance as assigned.
  14. Sweep outside porches and walkways daily.
  15. Wash porches and walkways as needed
  16. Keep grounds in order.
  17. Wash camp vehicles as needed.
  18. Chop firewood for evening camp fire programs.
  19. Assist in the general upkeep and maintenance of camp and its buildings.
  20. Assist assigned counselor with camper nighttime procedures.
  21. Assist, as able, with camper devotions each night in assigned cabin.
  22. Attending daily pray and bible study meeting each morning with the rest of the maintenance staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  2. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead.
  3. Ability to operate telephone.
  4. Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
  5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  6. Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
  7. Ability to understand written information.
