The Department of Anthropology seeks applications for the position of Coordinator of Student and Graduate Services. The department has a large graduate program that offers MA, MS and PhD degrees in three subfields (Archaeology, Sociocultural and Linguistic Anthropology, and Evolutionary Anthropology).
The Coordinator partners with the Office of Graduate Studies to ensure that each student is aware of deadlines and requirements on the path to graduation. Assists with course planning; maintains records and databases on student progress and demographics. Assists the Chair by providing data and reports on the graduate program. The Coordinator also coordinates the annual graduate student recruiting and admission process. This includes interacting with >100 domestic and international applicants each year, as well as coordinating and conducting the annual New Student Orientation. The Coordinator also processes assistantship contracts and coordinates scholarship awards with the Graduate Committee and the Department Accountant. The Coordinator is also a member of the Department Graduate Committee.
The successful candidate will exhibit strong communication and organizational skills. The ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students. Experience with organizing special programs, events, and/or conferences. Has knowledge and experience with UNM Graduate Studies and UNM information systems (see preferred qualifications).
High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
BA degree or higher
Knowledge of graduate program requirements and experience working with Graduate Students to achieve those requirements
Experience in creating assistantship contracts through the Office of Graduate Studies' online system
Experience in successfully managing budgets for both Assistantships (GA/TA/RA) and Part-time Instructors (PTTA)
Experience with MS Office Suite, Adobe, and other information management software
Knowledge of UNM information systems such as Banner, My Reports and On Base and ability to pull data from those systems
