Systems Software Engineer

As a software engineer on our team, you'll work with subject matter experts, developers, and fellow engineers to overcome our government customer's most difficult challenges using the latest architectural approaches. You'll use your passion to learn new tools and techniques while helping to identify and implement system improvements. Using Agile Software development principles, you'll guide the development of safe, secure, and effective weapon system architectures. You'll analyze the needs and the environment to ensure the solution weapon system contractors develop considers architecture, operating environments, and safety and surety for the system, for future functionality and enhancements.

As a Systems Software Engineer on our team, you'll support an Air Force client with complex software safety and compatibility issues across weapon sustainment and acquisition programs. You'll gain knowledge of the design of weapon systems and use that knowledge to ensure that those systems remain safe and compatible. You'll apply your knowledge of real-time embedded software development and programmable and configurable logic development to assist in the creation and maintenance of safety design policy and apply safety design policy to weapon systems. You'll verify that weapon systems meet safety design policy requirements and weapon system documentation meets safety design standards.

You Have:

  • 8+ years of experience developing real-time embedded software or programmable logic
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting embedded software that supports hardware functionality
  • Experience with Cameo
  • Experience in software development for embedded multi-processor systems using C, C++, or Ada programming languages or programmable logic devices using VHDL or Verilog
  • Experience reviewing software products for soundness of technical judgment and consistency with requirements
  • Experience with verification and validation
  • Experience with requirement traceability
  • Knowledge of fundamental software engineering principles
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics

Nice If You Have:

  • 8+ years of experience with systems software engineering
  • Experience with Air Force weapon systems
  • Experience with DO-178 and DO-254 safety standards
  • Experience with safety-critical software and real-time operating systems
  • Experience with software architecture and Design, UML, and SysML
  • Experience with DoD acquisition processes
  • Knowledge of various embedded architectures
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Master's degree in CS, Computer Engineering, or EE

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $96,700.00 to $220,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
