The Departments of Chemical & Biological Engineering and Nuclear Engineering seek a motivated and service-oriented person to join our team as an Accountant 1.
This position is responsible for accounting duties and responsibilities for both departments. . Prepares financial reports from standard operating statistics and/or financial data. Investigates and resolves problems related to funds, budgets, expenditures, and/or procurement practices. Provides assistance in the development, implementation and maintenance of internal fiscal systems and procedures, applying basic concepts, methods, and techniques. May serve as unit/area transaction initiator or requisitioner.
This also includes monitoring contracts & grants and timely reviewing and approving departmental transactions on funded projects. This includes monthly reconciliation of indices, preparing and updating monthly financial statements, attending monthly financial meetings, compiling data, and developing budgets. The Accountant I is responsible for the timely review and approval of department transactions such as PCard reconciliations, reimbursements, and requisitions, understanding and answering questions regarding allowable purchasing and reimbursements, and reviewing PCard statements to ensure compliance.
Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 9 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; no previous experience required.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
