The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) and the High School Equivalency Program (HEP) are federally funded scholarship programs at UNM and are seeking a motivated, dependable, friendly, self-motivated, and responsible Recruiter Assistant.

The Recruiter Assistant at HEP and CAMP will provide administrative support and customer service to the program and will directly support HEP and CAMP recruitment efforts. This includes maintaining student lists, organizing student files, communicating with potential scholars, and making phone calls. The Recruiter Assistant may also create simple graphics for recruitment. The Recruiter Assistant must be attentive to detail and should be able to follow specific instructions and internal procedures. Additionally, the Recruiter Assistant should have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic to handle confidential information, initiative, enthusiasm, and an interest in learning departmental functions.

The selected candidate is expected to be detail-oriented and possess integrity and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks or projects to meet deadlines. HEP/CAMP offers flexible scheduling, providing 10-15 hours per week with opportunities for evening or weekend hours during the academic year. The HEP/CAMP Office is open Monday - Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Students interested in the position must be able to work on Fridays and keep in mind that work shifts of one hour during the week won't be possible.

If selected for this position, you are expected to attend a group training in person on Aug 10-12, 2024, a department orientation (tentative), and mandatory recurring student staff meetings (dates/times will be announced during the interview process).

The position commitment is for one academic year, with the possibility of rehiring based on eligibility and program needs.

DutiesandResponsibilities:

  • Filing, copying, scanning, and indexing documents.
  • Maintaining electronic record keeping.
  • Assisting in resolving student or customer inquiries satisfactorily.
  • Delivering interoffice mail to appropriate departmental areas.
  • Maintaining a calendar of events and responding to communication with prospective scholars.
  • Performing general accounting data entry.
  • Assisting in event planning, from room reservation to sending reminder communication to guests.
  • Creating graphics for recruitment.
  • Providing intermittent or regular front desk coverage.
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Strong ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and office equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook and OneDrive.
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
  • Ability to be organized and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong ability to follow specific instructions.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to prioritize projects to meet one or multiple deadlines.

Preferences:

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Applications (Google Forms, Google Sheets, and Gmail).
  • Maintaining a 2.5 GPA or better.
