The College of Pharmacy is seeking an energetic, outgoing recruitment professional to serve as the recruiter for admissions for various Pharmacy education programs. The recruiter provides a vital touchpoint for initial interactions with potential students. This position requires in-person recruiting, locally and regionally as well as virtual recruitment opportunities. The qualified candidate engages with stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, etc.) in a variety of settings including recruitment fairs, classrooms, small group, and one-on-one interactions. The qualified applicant will proactively reach out to various organizations and potential students through various communication tools, including email, phone, virtual meetings, and social media.

The position includes building and maintaining relationships with educators and administrators at K-12 schools as well as higher education institutions. The position maintains and shares information regarding multiple Pharmacy education programs This position will be responsible for maintaining records related to interactions with events and follow-up with potential students. Reporting of data may be required. The position also supports student affairs projects and events. Travel is routine and required. Events may be held on some nights and weekends throughout the year.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represents the UNM College of Pharmacy in a professional manner in a public-facing role
  • Maintains and provides information on admissions, including program requirements, application processes, and deadlines
  • Provides and accepts feedback to improve recruitment strategies and materials
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues on innovative and proactive recruitment approaches on social media, and use of professional networks to attract students
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the College, pharmacy education, the profession, and job opportunities. Visits middle schools, high schools, and colleges, speaks to groups and individual students, and meets with school counselors to promote outreach activities; coordinates community workshops and retreats; arranges visits from prospective students and parents. Coordinates recruitment activities for Early Assurance Pathway programs throughout New Mexico
  • Serves as a liaison to develop partnerships between the university and local school systems throughout the state
  • Creates a database of prospective and current students and/or potential degree candidates in the state
  • Analyze and run reports, create spreadsheets, and documents related to recruitment practices that can be shared organization wide for understanding of recruitment metrics and trends
  • Responds to inquiries from students and agencies/organizations
  • Assists with admissions interviews and student affairs related events
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Conditions of Employment
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree with a concentration in a field related to education, communications, or student success
  • Experience in a public facing role representing a professional organization
  • Experience with public speaking and engagements including delivering presentations and information to a variety of audiences and in different environments
  • Work experience within higher education
  • Work experience with student recruitment
  • Knowledge of pharmacy or a health science related field
