Position Overview

Position Summary:
Eastern New Mexico University seeks a tenure track, assistant professor of digital filmmaking beginning in the fall term of 2024 to teach in its vibrant filmmaking program. The major is housed in the Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking in the College of Fine Arts, which also includes the departments of art, music, and communication. This is a residential appointment and campus presence is required.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach filmmaking courses related to digital cinematography, lighting, and other filmmaking courses as assigned
  • Participate in curriculum development
  • Maintain a professional artistic/research portfolio
  • Student advising
  • Participate in student recruiting efforts.
  • Must interact with students with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds to mentor their development in film production both in and out of the classroom
  • Service on departmental, college, and university committees
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • An earned MFA in Film or a terminal degree in an appropriate field is required
  • Teaching experience in filmmaking
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Thorough, practical knowledge of cinematography, lighting, and visual design
  • Additional specialties (film criticism, film history, storyboarding, production design, experimental film, film sound, post-production etc.) a plus
Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed during normal work hours but will require some evening and weekend duties
  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
