Position Summary |
The
University of New Mexico, College of Population Health (COPH) invites
applications for a full-time Research Scientist 2. Under general
supervision, this role will work with NM Center for Health Policy leadership
and faculty subject matter experts on research projects for New Mexico state
agencies. The selected candidate will use fundamental concepts, practices, and
procedures in public health, health communication, and/or health economics to
perform research tasks to meet project goals. Work may include policy
evaluation, quantitative data analysis, facilitation and processing of
interviews, and cost analysis, depending on the expertise of the candidate. The
candidate should have an understanding of the US healthcare system, including
fundamental issues around access, affordability, and quality. Duties and
Responsibilities: - Evaluates, selects, and applies standard research techniques, procedures, and criteria to accomplish a variety of research assignments.
- Performs research assignments in epidemiology, health policy, and/or health economics.
- Receives and carries out instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex problems, and possible solutions.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets data; prepares statistical and narrative reports and/or graphs.
- Serves as project lead, as appropriate, on sub-projects of complexities consistent with above criteria.
- Designs, performs, and/or oversees data collection, linking, and cleaning to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.
- May lead and guide staff and/or students engaged in associated research support activities, as appropriate.
- Engage with stakeholders as needed, including scheduling meetings, making agendas, recording and sharing notes, and keeping contact lists as needed to complete scopes of work.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment |
- Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.

Minimum Qualifications |
Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |

Qualifications: - Master's degree in related field preferred (individuals currently seeking a master's degree encouraged to apply)
