Job Description
UDR Consulting is seeking qualified candidates forProcedure Writer opportunities for our customer in Carlsbad, NM to support the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).

Work Location: On-Site at WIPP
Per diem is available for those who qualify.


The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation's only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste generated from Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the country. Waste is permanently isolated over 2,000 feet underground in deep salt beds.

Duties:


  • Coordinates complex jobs under limited supervision. May act as a lead writer/editor.
  • Coordinates highly complex jobs independently or may participate as publications representative on multi-disciplined groups planning and executing major projects.
  • Assists other technical editing staff, as required.
  • May review work of other technical editing staff members.
  • Conducts research to support document production.
  • Maintains document and resource files (support matter).
  • Responsible for electronic file management which may include access and configuration control.
  • Monitors job progress and alerts responsible supervisor when schedules appear to be in jeopardy.
  • May provide production data for performance metrics.
  • Edits and/or rewrites draft documents to new and/or existing procedures and ensures compliance with applicable guidelines.
  • Reviews document requirements with customers.
  • Recommends and coordinates document formatting, graphic design, and reprographics, resolves editorial and/or content issues and provides any additional editorial support.
  • Plans, writes, edits, and proofreads simple to highly complex documents.
  • Performs field walkdowns and assists in JHA development and field validations.


Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of procedurewriting or an Associate Degree with a minimum of 3 years of procedure writing experience.
  • 10-15+ years of procedure writing experience desired.
  • Procedure writing in a DOE or commercial nuclear-disciplined writing environment is required.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in word processing, is required.
  • Must be able to perform field walk downs andwalk on un-even surfaces typical for a construction site.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word.
  • Strong writing skills are a must.
  • PPA Certification is a plus.
  • Mechanical or I&C knowledge is desired.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision to analyze, design, and develop administrative, technical, and work process documents in support of a nuclear operating facility. These documents shall include operations, alarm response, emergency operating, and abnormal operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of nuclear facility conduct of operations and or conduct of maintenance is a plus.
