The Department of Pathology is seeking an Accountant 1 to join our finance team. Our team includes an Accountant 2 and a Fiscal Services Tech. The selected candidate will help in managing the overall financial affairs of a clinical department with significant research funding and an annual operating budget over $16 million. Duties will include monitoring department finances including clinical, research, and endowed funding; preparing routine and ad-hoc reports; working with research faculty for grant/contract submissions; conducting financial analyses; tracking revenue streams; auditing, reconciling and closing out accounts; monitoring and correcting payroll labor distributions; and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to or prior experience with: analyze financial data from multiple revenue sources and expense categories and report to department leadership; prioritize projects and coordinate multiple tasks; manage large amounts of data and maintain systems; take initiative with tasks and projects; assess trends and develop plans to address variances; and effectively communicate accounting information to a diverse group of end users.
Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 9 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; no previous experience required.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
