Requisition ID req29308 Working Title Master Plumber Position Grade 11 Position Summary UNM Facilities Management (FM) is seeking an experienced and professional Master Plumber to join our FM-Area 2 division. The qualified candidate will plan and perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on plumbing systems. Maintains the inspection backflow preventer and boilers database.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of trades experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Possession of a current New Mexico Journeyman Plumber/Gas Fitter (JPG) License.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven prior experience with the following:

  • Troubleshooting/repairing/installing steam, domestic water, chilled water and gas distribution systems in commercial and/or industrial buildings.
  • Testing, troubleshooting, repairing and replacing backflow prevention devices.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing steam to hot water heat exchangers for commercial building heating systems.
  • Maintaining accurate preventive and corrective maintenance records in portable recording device (iPad).
  • Leading lower level technicians performing complex repairs.
  • Providing structured training for lower level technicians and other trades
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Team Building skills and positive attitude.
  • Working in the medical environment
