Primary Responsibilities:

Our Water Resources team focuses on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design for flood and erosion risk reduction, stream restoration/rehabilitation, dams and reservoirs, water quality, transportation drainage, and other civil works projects with opportunities to work on all project phases including program management, master planning, modeling, analysis, design, and construction. Daily responsibilities could include:

  • Provide project engineering and task level management
  • Lead and develop hydrologic and hydraulic models including 1D/2D to support planning and design of flood mitigation, stabilization of erosion hazards, and water quality projects including large and small storm drain systems, stream rehabilitation/restoration, open channel design, complex culverts and bridges, dam spillways and other hydraulic structures, detention, and stormwater control measures (SCMs).
  • Lead and develop civil design of drainage, stream restoration/rehabilitation, and civil works infrastructure including site plans, utility plans, grading, alignments and profiles, typical sections, and details.
  • Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents.
  • Perform water resources master planning and preliminary engineering studies including multi-objective watershed-wide flood, erosion, and/or water quality master plans.
  • Perform geomorphic assessments and erosion hazard studies in support of stream rehabilitation studies and final design projects.
  • Perform dam safety/dam remediation studies and design including dam assessments, breach analyses, potential failure mode analyses and risk assessments, hydraulic capacity analyses and improvements design, and emergency action plans and tabletop exercises.
  • Develop preparation of technical reports and presentations including visualization of data.
  • Assist in construction administration phase of civil works, dam remediation, drainage, and stream rehabilitation projects.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience in water resources engineering projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Proficient in civil works design, the application of hydrologic and hydraulic principals and 1D/2D modeling
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive work experience in water resources/stormwater engineering
  • Proficient with ArcGIS or ArcPro
  • Proficient in 1D/2D hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, InfoWorks ICM, or XPSWMM.
  • Experience in the central Texas area
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D, InfoWorks software suite, XP-SWMM, StormCAD, and/or Microstation
  • Certified Floodplain Manager
