THE SALVATION ARMY MISSION STATEMENT:

OVERVIEW:

To assist the Food Service Manager with the daily operations of the kitchen and dining facilities. To assist with the preparation and clean-up of meals from menus that have been developed by the Food Service Manager. To ensure that the preparation and service of all meals will make a positive contribution to the health and nutritional standards of Camp Redwood Glen and will enhance the overall experience of all our guests.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assist with any food service preparation assigned by the Food Service Manager.
  • Be prepared to take responsibility for meal/snack preparation if required and ensure their readiness in accordance with the scheduled meal/snack times.
  • Assist with all inventory procedures, making certain all food removed from stock room, refrigerator and freezer is properly accounted for and documented on proper inventory form.
  • In accordance with state and county health codes, properly store all leftovers and unused food after each meal/snack.
  • Assist with cleaning and care of kitchen, all work areas and equipment in keeping with established health department and industry safety standards and codes.
  • Ensure that all kitchen clean-up is completed immediately following each meal/snack.
  • Responsible for the care, cleanliness, and upkeep of the staff break room. This space will be checked daily with a weekly deep cleaning including the sink, refrigerator, and all cooking appliances, etc.
  • Secure kitchen before leaving at the end of all scheduled events.
  • Maintain safe work habits in accordance with all government's regulations. Make certain that deportment and behavior of those in the kitchen area is exemplary at all times and in keeping with professional standards.
  • Attend and participate in training and conferences as assigned by the Food Service Manager. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
  • Follow all Camp Redwood Glen Chef/Cook dress code requirements.
  • Assist the Food Service Manager in other duties as assigned.
  • Dish Room and Kitchen:
    • Wash and store dishes, pots, and pans.
    • Maintain cleanliness of all dishwashing areas.
    • Sweep kitchen floor after each meal.
    • Sweep and spot mop dining room floor.
    • Empty trash.
    • Mop kitchen floor after last meal of the day.
    • Prepare clean up pans, cleaning cloths, and spatulas for each table.
    • Clean and maintain outside trash and mop storage.
    • Assist the Food Service Manager in any duties as requested in an order to maintain a high level of efficiency in the kitchen operation.
    • Maintain inventory of supplies of needed in this service.
    • Order replacement supplies through the Food Service Manager.
  • Assist the Food Service Manager in any other duties as requested in order to maintain a consistently high level of efficiency in the operation of the camp.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess current Food Handlers certification.
  • Detail oriented, accurate, dependable, personable, and precise.
  • Capable of handling and controlling multiple projects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.

COMPENSATION:

$18.00-$20.00 per hour
