This position works closely with the Department Administrator, the Graduate Program Director, and the Undergraduate Program Director to complete day-to-day programmatic tasks related to student academic success. These tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
* Support the implementation of the PhD program offered collaboratively with New Mexico State University
* Conduct in-person and internet-based student outreach and recruitment, including maintenance of websites
* Maintain correspondence with prospective graduate students
* Assist graduate students, faculty, and other staff persons in navigating administrative systems, policies, and procedures leading to degree completion
* Assist faculty and graduate students in establishing contracts and meeting requirements for graduate assistantships
* Track degree progress for graduate students; compile student data for departmental research and reporting purposes
* Schedule and plan student recruitment, orientation, and graduation events
This position will also provide backup and support to the Department Administrator. These duties may include:
* Purchasing and related processes
* Providing customer service to the public, students, faculty, and other staff who contact the department
* Scheduling rooms and A/V needs for departmental meetings
* Issuing keycards
* Course scheduling
* Submitting requests for IT and facilities support; supervise student assistants
* Attending meetings
This position has working hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This position requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate as a member of a small team that serves a wide range of internal and external constituents.

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Experience in higher education working with faculty, students, staff, and members of the general public
Experience in web design and upkeep of websites
Experience with administrative record-keeping within computer applications and with printed materials
Experience designing printed materials suitable for student recruitment and public outreach
Ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines
Ability to analyze and solve problems independently
Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate special events
Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision
