As a Welder/Fabricator/Fitter will be part of a team of other skilled mechanics; however, your duties will often be performed with minimal supervision so the Welder/Fabricator/Fitter must be comfortable working independently in an industrial setting as well as being able to adopt our, "flow to the work" practices that have been adopted by Georgia-Pacific.

What You Will Do

The type and scope of a project will greatly determine the duties of a Welder Fabricator Fitter, but here are some primary Roles you can expect:

  • Improve operations productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordinating labor, parts, materials, tools, and equipment access
  • Accurately following blueprints, technical and mechanical drawings, Process & Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's) and schematics and schedules for machine installations or rebuilds that involve proprietary technology
  • Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, procedures and actively participating in the safety program
  • Troubleshoot, installing, performing routine repairs, and setup for equipment and components in all areas of the facility
  • Work within a flex-trade, industrial/manufacturing environment to complete tasks and utilizing skills to handle multiple tasks
  • Effectively operating welding equipment to install, maintain, and fabricate industrial piping systems, such as process piping, process steam, steam heating, hot water heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems
  • Install, maintaining, and troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems, to include but not limited to controls, pumps, and cylinders
  • Operate material handling equipment, including hoists, lifts, rigging equipment, cranes, and lift trucks to complete mechanical installation and service of piping system equipment which may include repetitively lifting weights up to 50lbs
  • Work within a team environment; communicating with all levels of the organization which may include other maintenance employees, engineers, technicians, and/or outside contractors


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Journey level experience as a maintenance Pipefitter/Welder in an industrial/manufacturing setting
  • Experience with a variety of tools and equipment
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
  • Knowledge and experience with various welding processes, such as TIG, MIG and ARC
  • Experience using heavy machinery, such as forklifts and cranes


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Maintenance experience in the pulp and paper manufacturing environment
  • 4 years or more of industrial maintenance experience
  • Combination of pipefitter/welder industrial/manufacturing experience with completion of a Trade School certificate and/or degree
