The Salvation Army Thrift store in Roswell NM is looking to fill a Store Manager position. The successful candidate for this position will be organized, have good customer service skills and be able to work with minimal supervision. This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance, and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must work with the Corps Officers, set policy and procedure for collection, sorting, pricing, and display of donated materials and ensure that these are followed by all store personnel
  • Supervise, train and evaluate all personnel to ensure that they are working effectively in their assigned areas of responsibility
  • Implement policies and procedures for safety and loss prevention
  • Set goals for each area of operation
  • Oversees the proper maintenance and operation of all Thrift Store equipment
  • Exercise proper cash management procedures that guard the safety of the thrift store cash including daily deposit of proceeds
  • Lead periodic thrift store employee meeting to share new policies/procedures, goals set/met, safety information, and any other information deemed necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the store
  • Investigate the value of exceptional donations by means of the internet, local expert or other resources available to assist in determining an accurate price
  • Be familiar with all store operations and available to assist store personnel in their areas of responsibility when deemed necessary for efficient store operations
  • Report all accidents involving equipment, personal injury and property damage to Corps Officers, insurance companies and any other required regulating agencies
  • Act as personal representative of The Salvation Army and ensure that all employees treat all customers and donors courteously
  • Perform other duties as they relate to the position of Thrift Store Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have good people skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Must be organized
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
