Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande is one of 28 workforce development boards in Texas. It is our job to enhance the quality of life in our region by focusing on initiatives that develop opportunities in education, employment and economic development. We oversee programs. We create partnerships. We invest in people. Vision: A strong network of community partnerships that makes our customers competitive in the global marketplace. Mission: The Upper Rio Grande Workforce System provides skilled workers for employers and job opportunities for workers.

All functions and staff of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Training & Development was combined with all functions and staff of the New Mexico Department of Labor and a brand new government agency called the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions was created. The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions will continue the successful programs of the previous agencies and concentrate heavily on aligning workforce training programs with the current and emerging needs of the business community and the New Mexico economy.

The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions is a World-Class, market-driven workforce delivery system that prepares New Mexico job seekers to meet current and emerging needs of New Mexico businesses; and ensures that every New Mexico citizen who needs a job will have one; and every business who needs an employee will find one with the necessary skills and work readiness to allow New Mexico businesses to compete in a global economy.
